Pakistani PM hopes for even closer connectivity across Eurasia through SCO Tianjin Summit

Tianjin (China):- Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed the hope that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 in Tianjin will further promote the "Shanghai Spirit” and forge even closer connectivity across Eurasia.

In an interview with the China Central Television (CCTV) on Sunday, the Pakistani prime minister said the gathering comes at a crucial time when countries across the region are seeking closer coordination, deeper integration and stronger multilateral cooperation to address shared challenges and create new opportunities for development.

"Let me say through your channel that I’m looking forward to attending SCO Summit tomorrow [Monday]. Number one, Eurasia will be connected with central and south Asia. And it will promote the Shanghai Spirit. [With] President Xi Jinping in the chair, I’m sure it will have a very positive result. And Pakistan, as a member state of this organization and a true friend of China, will contribute whatever we can to make the summit a roaring success,” said Sharif.

Pakistan joined the SCO in 2017. China and Pakistan are good neighbors bound together by mountains and rivers, good friends bound by trust and loyalty, good partners who support each other, and good brothers who share weal and woe.

The China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership has continued to deepen, enjoying a solid foundation of public support, strong internal driving force, and broad prospects for development.

Sharif arrived in Tianjin on Saturday. After attending the SCO Summit, the prime minister will come to Beijing to attend China’s V-Day commemorations on Sept 3.
